Admiral Farragut Dunbar, Litt. ined, October 3, 1923, “Flowers single, 1 1/4 inches across, bluish lavender tinged violet, lobes slightly cucullate.”
Produced by John Dunbar of the Dept. of Parks, Rochester, N.Y. In a letter the late Mr. Dunbar informed me that this was a seedling (no. 306 Dunbar) of Gilbert, named by him in 1923.
Notes on plant in Dept. of Parks, Rochester, N.Y. Flowers single, large, corolla-lobes cucullate; tone intermediate; color in bud Deep Purplish Vinaceous to Vinaceou-Lilac (XLIV.); when expanded Eupatorium Purple with shadings of Tourmaline Pin without, Eupatorium Purple (XXXVIII.) within, a solid color. Clusters long, narrow, symmetrical.

Бутоны пурпурно-лиловые; цветки от лиловых до светло-лиловых, средней величины (до 2 см), простые, слегка душистые; лепестки округлые, заостренные. Соцветия средней величины (17х7 см), с округлыми верхушками, рыхлые, редкие. Кусты высотой 2 м, средней густоты.
